Young Writers: Shop with a Cop from the Circle Gazette
“Shop with a Cop” is a program dedicated to the help of underprivileged kids who do not have gifts for the holiday season. Circle Gazette reporters Aaron and Sara Cross talked to the founder, Officer Tony Careccia of the Margate Police Department.
“I worked in a middle school for many, many years, and I saw that a lot of kids didn't have anything for the holidays,” he said. “So I got together with Wal-Mart and the Chief of Police of Margate and we came up with this program.”

Over the past few years throughout the country, “Green”, organic markets have gained in popularity and support throughout the region. The organic, non-treated produce and foods often sell for a cheaper price than at supermarket chains and the outdoor atmosphere is pleasant and new to Americans. For this reason, many cities abroad like Margate have opened up their own green markets. Margate’s market, in its fourth season, is held three to four times a month and has been thriving as of late.

On November 13th, Circle Gazette reporters Sara and Aaron Cross attended the crime watch picnic at Firefighters park in Margate, FL. The event was hosted by the communities of the Coral Lake Estates and The Pines. The Margate police force was there talking about the importance of neighborhood crime awareness.
