It was the wee hours of the morning when Mike said he heard the skidding wheels of a motor vehicle approaching his home. He heard a crash,  then a vehicle backing up and peeling out. He looked outside and saw a white pick-up truck taking off.

Mike's neighbor around the corner had slammed his Dodge Ram into the family’s parked van, just missing the room in the house where Mike was sitting. The neighbor took off, went home and went to bed.
_______________

Margate Cops answered the call the morning of August 25, and knocked on the door of the house where the white pick-up was parked, but nobody answered. Because the driver of the vehicle could not be positively identified at the time, police had insufficient cause to enter the home.

The accident is under investigation, and although DUI is likely ruled out because the driver wasn’t apprehended when the accident occurred, say cops, Mike and his wife can’t think of too many other reasons why someone would drive straight into their car instead of slowing down and making the turn like everyone else.

“Especially at three in the morning,” said Mike.

Cops impounded the pickup truck the day of the accident, to which three days later the neighbor had still not apoligized for the mishap.
