Margate Scout seeks to refurbish Senior Center Garden
Fundraiser this weekend. Mark your calendar!

Margate resident and Life Scout, Brandon Robb, is on his way to being part of the two percent of all Boy Scouts in the world who achieve the rank Eagle Scout. He has three more merits to complete before the age of 18 and needs to invent, plan and execute a project successfully within the community.
Because Robb’s Grandmother used to spend a lot of time at Margate’s Northwest Focal Point Senior Center, and he’s thankful for all they’ve done for her, he has proposed to Center officials that he replant some garden areas as a means of giving back.
_______________
The veteran (10 years in the Scouts) Scout’s vision for the Focal Point project is to bring to their gardens to life by adding native Florida plants and flowers to the landscape, building a sitting bench and creating a peaceful atmosphere with the addition of wind chimes and aesthetic accents. He also wants to install a Fan Mister, which is a device that circulates moist, cool air.
16-year-old Robb is active in the Junior ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corp) and has aspirations to study aeronautical engineering at Colorado Springs Air Force Academy. Robb was born and raised in Margate and said he has “always loved planes.”
In the world of Scouts, Robb is unique in that he’s achieved the rank of Life Scout at the age of 16 and has plans to advance to Eagle by the end of the year.
“Only two percent of all Boy Scouts in the world make Eagle Scout,” said Robb. “I have three merits to complete: Citizen in the Nation, Communications, and Emergency Preparedness and I’m there,” he said.
To raise money in support of the Northwest Focal Point Senior Center Garden Project, Brandon and his Scout Troop will be hosting a Car Wash on Sunday, August 29th from 10 am. to 4 pm. at the Mobil Station located on the corner of Shadowood and University Drive in Coral Springs.
All contributions of money and supplies will be humbly and graciously accepted on Sunday. Robb encourages landscape businesses and restaurants to donate food and / or plants for the fundraiser. For a list of supplies, email Brandon at troop836@bellsouth.net. His goal is to raise $1,000 in money and supplies to support the Senior Center effort.
