Margate's Water Treatment Plant is a hostel for wayward, abandoned and lost cats. Over the last year, MargateNews.net has found four cats new homes and has reunited two lost cats with their families.

Today, we are reaching out to cat lovers around Margate to find a loving home for two healthy kitty newborns that appear to be two to three weeks old. These kittens are extremely docile and friendly and are ideal for stay at home moms, couples, seniors, working families with kids, and pet owners with one cat in search of a companion.
_______________

The mother of the kittens, a lost pet named Sakura, has been reunited with Margate teenager, Amber Sepulveda, who hand fed her as a baby. About three months ago, Sakura walked out the front door and has been living at the water treatment plant just 3 blocks away!

The father of the litter is an abandoned pet - an orange, long-haired Manx. A trap is being set this week to capture him so that he may be neutered, vaccinated and released. The ASPCA endorses Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) as the only proven humane and effective method to manage feral cat colonies. Once captured, "Half-Tail" (named because many Manx are born with half a tail) will be cared for at Cats Exclusive in Margate, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization.

If you’re concerned about the cost of sterilizing and vaccinating a kitten, Cats Exclusive operates a low-cost clinic here in Margate that offers spaying/neutering services, vaccines, dental work and other routine surgeries. The Cats Exclusive clinic is located at 6350 West Atlantic Blvd and their phone number is 954-975-8349.

Broward County also offers The SPOT (Stop Pet Overpopulation Together) program, which allows homeowners who meet income eligibility requirements to fix their cat or dog for just $10. Pet owners can choose from over 20 veterinary clinics to perform the surgery. A household of four with a yearly income of $63,350 would qualify for the program.

If you would like to adopt one or both kittens, please call MargateNews.net at 954-729-6164 or email MargateNews@bellsouth.net.

Only families committed to spay/neuter the cats and keep them indoors will qualify. Pass the word around. These adorable, friendly kittens are mewing for a new family.
