Are you a non-profit organization in constant search of hard-working volunteers? Do you have a job that needs completing but no manpower to complete it?
Talk to Rick Riccardi or Peter Burggraf at Margate’s Fellowship Living Recovery Community. They’ve got a hundred good men willing to serve their community.
_______________
The Fellowship Living Recovery Community on Banks Road in Margate is where men go to break their addiction with drugs and alcohol and gain the skills and training required to start a new way of living. An addict must be sober when he arrives at Fellowship, commit himself to a structured program of recovery and find employment almost immediately.
“We’re not a half way house” said Riccardi. “We’re a recovery community. An extended family where men find the love, acceptance and support they need to get their life together and return to being good fathers, husbands and brothers.”
As part of the recovery process at Fellowship the men are required to volunteer for community service. This can range from helping out with event duties for the Margate Chamber of Commerce to aiding residents in the community, and supporting the fund raising efforts of local non profit organizations. Currently, Fellowship Living is busy organizing a Golf Fundraising Event to benefit the Margate Chapter of the Kiwanis Club due to take place on October 16th.
It’s part of the Fellowship's civic minded approach to recovery, said Burggraf. “We believe in guiding and empowering our men in all aspects of life, this includes serving the community.”
In addition to Servant Leadership Training, the men of Fellowship Living have a unique opportunity to be educated and licensed as professionals in the field of addiction. “Many of our residents have already passed the State Boards and are licensed and working as addiction counselors” said Burggraf. With two more residents preparing to take their State Boards in September, the men of Fellowship Living are being prepared to transform the face of recovery…professionally, socially and behaviorally.
Fellowship Living recently started an in-house landscaping business. They’ve got some equipment on hand, but are open to receiving donations from established landscaping companies. To complement the landscaping venture, the men have a box truck ideal for cleanouts, the demand for which is growing as more and more foreclosures change hands here in South Florida and gutting houses for remodeling is practically an everyday affair.
Currently, Fellowship Living has a 100% employment rate. Between volunteering, education and full time employment, these 100 men are most definitely active, service oriented, and civic minded members of the Margate Community.
