Wexler condones obesity, lack of exercise and poor diet?
It's what Wexler isn't saying that bothers me

I’m sure I’m not the only Margate resident who has received Congressman Robert Wexler’s (D-FL 19th District) recent email regarding healthcare in America. The email opens with:
“Every 30 seconds in America, a bankruptcy occurs due to the outrageous cost of health care. Over 46 million Americans lack insurance, and for those of us who have it, each year we face higher co-pays and premiums.”
This ‘access to affordable healthcare’ nonsense is out of control. Poor health in America is perpetuated by the sedentary and dietary abuse of the masses, making our populations fat, lazy, unproductive and, as unfortunate as it may be; stupid – too stupid to eat right and exercise. The truth hurts.
Congressman Wexler wants to know what “concerns you most about the health care system?” Rising premiums, co-pays and fees? High prescription drug costs, insurance problems or fewer doctors accepting insurance?
Frankly, what concerns me most about health care in America are parents who feed their kids lunchables and buy potato chips with food stamps. Then, of course, there's the extremely obese, who, after years of over-indulgence, experience heart attacks, high cholesterol and plethora of irreversible health problems, all because they had to return to the buffet for fourths, fifths, etc. I also object to my tax dollars funding the repair of intoxicated, uninsured illegals falling from the scaffold. I could go on forever.
Access to Good Health?
Wexler asks in his email poll whether we “believe the federal government has an interest in making health care accessible to all Americans?”
What does this mean? We already have access to whole foods and know how to to eat right and get plenty of exercise. Don't we? Then again, maybe it's time for parents to stop pulling their kids out of gym class and start putting some decent food on the table. You know who you are.
Does Congressman Wexler want to keep us hooked?
Wexler’s last poll question: “Do you believe the federal government would negotiate with drug companies to provide lower prices for prescription drugs?”
How much fatter and stupider and addicted to prescription medications do we want to become as a society? Kids on Riddilen. Parents hooked on anti-anxiety medications and anti-depressants. It’s all one big shame. And apparently our Congressman wants to make sure we get more of the same.
I believe we’d all be a lot better off if government promoted diet and nutrition programs for uneducated parents and youth, banned ‘junk food’ from schools and disallowed drug companies to advertise in print or in broadcast, so as to slow down research and make prescription drugs safer and less accessible.
Unfortunately for tomorrow’s leaders – today’s children, Congressmen like Wexler behave like a South Florida drought: water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink.
Form an opinion on Wexler not on what he says about healthcare reform, but what he doesn’t say. Because in his poll, he mentions nothing about staying healthy.
