City on Fence over Tenant Sign

Business owners in downtown Margate’s Ace Hardware plaza have requested that their landlord, the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency, erect a road sign for their plaza at the intersection of State Road 7 and Margate Boulevard to generate more public exposure for their businesses.
Margate commissioners seemed to welcome the idea Wednesday in city chambers, but expressed different views on who should pay for the sign and what it should look like. City staff said they would explore the matter further and bring it back to the commission at a later date.
