Margate Police Chief, Jerry Blough, announced at Wednesday’s City Commission meeting that two suspects allegedly responsible for the rash of one-mile canal burglaries in Margate had been apprehended on May 19 as a result of a surveillance operation in problem neighborhoods.
_______________
Margate resident, Le Peerman, thanked Blough and his force for their efforts in getting the bottom of the burglaries, which have occurred in recent months along the stretch of one-mile canal sandwiched between Atlantic and Margate Boulevards.
Blough said undercover agents apprehended the two suspects in the act, recovering stolen goods from yesterday’s incident with the hopes of recovering property stolen during other canal burglaries.
Howard Glover and Carlos Wren were arrested after officers observed Wren enter into a residence located in the 500 block of NW 69th Terrace.
Glover remained in the vehicle acting as a look-out. A short time later, Wren exited from the front door of the residence carrying items that he had stolen from within the residence, police said.
Wren approached the vehicle that Glover was waiting in and officers moved in.
Wren was arrested after he fled from the scene. Glover was arrested from inside his vehicle after a brief struggle.
Glover was charged with burglary to a dwelling, possession of burglary tools, and resisting an officer with violence.
Wren was charged with burglary to a dwelling, possession of burglary tools, and resisting an officer without violence.
Blough also announced the May 19 arrest of four to five suspects involved in acts of criminal mischief in the Carolina Club area of Margate. Suspects are allegedly tied to crimes of peeping tom and destruction and defacement of property.
