Margate Aztec RV Resort to show city economic promise

Why would a Class-A Recreational Vehicle owner want to park their rig in Margate? A: hundreds of great restaurants within a 2-mile radius, seven months of beautiful weather, less than a 30-minute drive to Fort Lauderdale and Deerfield beaches, two casinos within ten miles and fresh water sport fishing inland for snook, tarpin and peacock bass. Add to that two 18-hole golf courses and the priceless benefits and convenience of urban sprawl and discount shopping.
But will wealthy RVers spend money in Margate? The answer depends on what Margate businesses have to offer.
_______________
A more than 600-lot Luxury RV Resort is now under construction where the former Aztec mobile home park on State Rd 7 once stood—just south of Atlantic Boulevard on the east side of the street.
RV lots will be selling for between $100K and $400K and the community designed for extended stays. The park is Class-A vehicle restricted, which means ‘high-end, groovy-looking buses only please; no campervans and no pop-ups.’
Lot owners can stay for months at a time and can sublet and trade the use of their lots when they’re gone, which potentially means millions for Margate small business year after year, along with more money on the tax rolls for Margate residents. In addition, said Margate City Commissioner Frank Talerico, the RV Resort will be unique to the area and be seen as positive growth for the city.
The laundry list of products and services needed by the luxury RV demographic is long. From restaurants and retail to Day Spas, motorcycle, boat and car rentals, entertainment venues, groceries, coffee shops, consignment—and yes—even pawn shops to purchase gems, jewelry, bikes, guns, collectibles and one-of-a-kind merchandise.
Savvy business owners in the area will look at Margate’s new RV Park as an incredible opportunity to grow loyal customers and build profits. Attentive customer service will be vital to success with this demographic, as will friendliness, innovation and the ability of businesses to adapt to a culture not of Warren Buffets, but to above-average wealthy tourists in search of fun, sun, an exceptional welcome and a place to call home away from home.
High income individuals are more likely to frequent independently-owned restaurants, boutiques and salons, say analysts, and to look less at price and more at value, making Margate a perfect match.
Although more than a hundred of the Atzec luxury RV lots have been reported sold by Aztec RV representatives, Mark Taravella, Supervisor of the Vacant Land Division in Broward, said no Aztec RV Resort parcels have been deeded out thus far, and no legal documents have been filed with Broward's Property Appraiser that would indicate a transfer of ownership of real property.

Affluent shoppers are the most important segment of consumer spending, which in turn drives the national economy, reports the Washington Post. The top 20 percent of households with income above $150,000 account for 40 percent of all spending in America, which makes this demographic vital to the nation’s economic recovery.
