Margate City Commissioners selected a Red Light Camera vendor last Wednesday to install the devices at numerous intersections in Margate. Wasting no time, crews have already hit the road and have begun putting the cameras atop poles across the city.

Tips for avoiding a Citation:
1. Stop for yellow lights.
2. Don't run yellow lights.
3. Don't speed up when lights turn yellow.
4. Don't speed up if the car in front of you slows down and / or stops for a yellow light.
5. Stop texting and keep your eye on the road.
6. Stay off your cell phone if you don't have a hands-free device.
7. Slown down. Nothing is so important as to risk your life or the life of another driver.
If you don’t understand any of the above, expect a citation in the mail or an accident that will likely be your fault. Whatever you may think of red light cameras, chances are they're here to stay and the devices are geared toward traffic and pedestrian safety -- all while making a few bucks for the city.
