For those of you who attended the last St. Vincent's Carnival, you know about the family fun, value, good eats, games and the unlimited ride pass. Well, by popular demand, St. Vincent’s Carnival is back, and the timing is perfect for families in search of more bang for their entertainment buck.
Hotdogs and fries, rides and cotton candy add up to about ten bucks a person for a family of four on the prowl for value-packed entertainment. You won't pay six greenback for darts, or an arm and a leg for Kiebasa, funnel cake or a hot pretzel. The value is there –a few quid for a game and everybody's a winner.
This is the third carnival of St. Vincent's at the old Swap Shop site in less than a year, the last more successful than the first. The event is organized by St. Vincent's Men's Guild in cooperation with the City of Margate and Chamber of Commerce.
John Scarpulla, VP for the Men's Guild, said that along with the hard work of Men's Guild President, Harry Placke and others, Hildebrand Rides, a Florida-based, family-owned amusement company, has contributed to carnival success. Their safety record is outstanding and the rides are rigorously inspected by both state and city officials before cleared for operation.
"Inspectors are very strict," said Scarpulla. "The slightest problem and the ride's shut down."
Be there or be square. St. Vincent's Carnival runs January 29 to February 8 on the old Swap Shop land on State Rd. 7 at the end of Margate Blvd. The cops are keeping the place safe and you can’t beat the fun, food, lights and maniacal laughter of the carnies.
