This year’s inaugural Margate Street Festival in February was an overwhelming success. In excess of 5,000 people attended the event, say police, and stories of vendors selling-out of goods and making profits came into the Margate Chamber of Commerce one after the next. O'Malley’s ran out of ribs, service providers acquired tons of leads and live entertainment -- from dance to music to performance art -- was non-stop. It was a world-class affair and the first of its kind in Margate.
So is there money to be made in 2010?
_______________
“As a local business owner, you’d have to be crazy not to have a booth in the Street Festival next year,” said Chris Nott, Program Director for World Class Martial Arts Academy and Street Festival Committee member at the Margate Chamber of Commerce.
Nott, like others, answered hundreds of inquires about his services at the February event. From those who took interest, his Academy ended up with six new students, paying several times over the initial $150 investment to have a booth for the day. Nott teaches the fine art of Karate to everyone from preschoolers to adults and is a driving force behind building the 2nd Annual 2010 Margate Street Festival into something bigger and better than the first.
The goal of the Margate Chamber of Commerce is to bring community business leaders together in the spirit of cross-pollination – You buy from me, I buy from you. You tell your friends and family about my business, I tell my friends and family about yours – it’s as simple as that. And who in this economic day and age couldn’t use a few referrals?
A force of more than 200 in a Margate business community of 2,000, Margate’s Chamber of Commerce has room to grow. The chamber is offering existing members an opportunity to sell Street Festival booth space in return for cash prizes, while at the same time offering non-members a break on Street Festival space if they join the Chamber. It’s a win-win for members and an outstanding opportunity for non-members looking to expand their customer base, move idle merchandise off the shelf and heighten their exposure as qaulity service providers.
The Margate Chamber of Commerce is located at 1025 N State Road 7 and is open five days a week. Stop in and say high to Executive Director, Jaime Milner, join the Chamber and purchase a booth for the Margate Street Festival scheduled for February 21, 2010 (Get 10% off if you sign up before October 31). You can call 954-582-0399 for more information or attend the monthly Street Festival Meeting, the next of which is scheduled for November. You can also visit the Chamber on Facebook.
“Chamber membership quickly pays for itself and is a savvy investment in business and community,” Nott said.
