SCORE sets up shop in Margate

SCORE, America’s Small Business Counselors of the SBA, has set up shop in Margate and is providing small business workshops to area entrepreneurs in search of improving operational efficiencies and boosting marketing efforts.
The Margate Community Redevelopment Agency (MCRA) has donated office and workshop space in kind to SCORE, enabling the organization to expand its scope of services to North Broward businesses.
SCORE now shares space with the Margate Chamber of Commerce in the Think Addiction shopping center at the east end of Margate Boulevard. Call 954-356-7263 for more information.

SCORE’s Margate workshop program, which began in September and is conducted at the Margate Community Center, covers such topics as Dynamic Business Planning, Branding, Merchandising, Internet Marketing and Customer Service.
In addition, SCORE volunteers provide small business counseling for free at Margate’s Community Center three days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Counseling is available for both small business start-ups and ongoing concerns. Types of businesses counseled range from IT, professional office and manufacturing to real estate, marketing, hospitality, non-profits and publishing.
SCORE’s Broward Chapter is comprised of roughly 35 experienced small business counselors dedicated to disseminating valuable small business advice to entrepreneurs weathering the down economy. The organization is funded, in part, by the SBA (Small Business Administration) and enjoys an 85 percent customer satisfaction rating as determined by the federal government, one of the highest ratings of any SCORE chapter in the state.
Twice a month, SCORE conducts free workshops for men and women who are considering opening a small business. The Broward SCORE website is fully interactive and should be bookmarked as a favorite for those interested in staying abreast of small business trends or who are searching for documents to start a business, write a business plan, obtain lending, improve credit, manage cash flow and expand marketing efforts. The website contains numerous downloadable podcasts and business documents all for free.
