Margate Launches New "Info on the Go" Mobile Website
• Makes doing business with the city easier

Margate residents and businesses now have the power to pay water bills; check the status of building permits; obtain City meeting agendas; reference bus schedules; contact city departments; and even check the weather through their IPHONE, BLACKBERRY or other PDA internet device.
All applications are free and will be available through the new Margate Mobile “Info on the Go” at www.margatefl.com/mobile/.
The City’s Information Technology staff created the site to give contractors, residents, business owners and bus patrons necessary City information at their fingertips. The new site saves users valuable time while providing important information via cell phones and PDA devices 24 hours a day.
“We want to enhance the communication and information available to residents through the City Web site and now “Info on the Go” to promote meetings, events, and ease the burden for residents needing timely information,” said City Manager Frank Porcella.
Once at the site, users have a variety of options to navigate:
Paying water bills: Users select “Pay your water bill” and a screen appears to enter their account number, pin, and credit card information.
Checking the status of building permits: Users may view pass/fail inspections and the status of individual permits by selecting “Building Permit Status.” This selection gives users access to Building Permit Applications and/or the Master Account log in for information.
Obtaining City meeting information: All City Commission, CRA, DRC, and other Board Meeting schedules are available at the mobile site. By selecting the meeting of interest, users may access meeting agendas along with resolutions and available backup documents. Backup retrieval speeds will vary depending on the internet cell phone provider. Additionally, Margate Mobile users will receive notice of cancelled meetings through site updates.
Referencing transit information: Bus schedules, routes, and transit telephone numbers will be available through “Info on the Go.” Selecting “Times in TEXT” on the Transit page yields all bus pickup times for a desired route. If the user’s phone allows PDF files, then all routes using graphics will be viewable.
Calling City Departments: Contact information for City Departments will be available, and offices dialed automatically with just a touch or by highlighting text, depending on the phone device used.
