The Margate Police traffic message board stating “Be a Good Neighbor and Report Suspicious People and Suspicious Activity to Margate Police” located on Rock Island Rock due north of Atlantic Boulevard was placed at that location because of signs of criminal activity in the area.
Margate police are requesting that residents in the area heighten their vigilance in reporting unusual events, people and cars in their neighborhoods and to be on the lookout for activity which appears 'out of the ordinary.'
Property crimes are up in Margate and across South Florida. Persons pretending to be contractors, inspectors, cable and utility representatives may be staking out houses in the area and / or looking to get inside your home or car.
Police suggest keeping windows closed when not at home and doors locked when you are.
Don't let strangers enter your home without proper identification and, if persons knocking at your door appear suspicious in nature, don't hesitate to call Margate Police at 954-972-7111.
The Margate Police have free cellphones for seniors to have by your side for emergencies and personal safety! Call Officer Tony at 954-972-1232 to get yours.
